Even situated all the way at the rear of the arena, his charm still manages to reach us. The Cheshire born twenty-four-year-old has always been known for his cheeky manner, just as he has always been known for his dimpled grin and curling locks, but tonight in London he proved himself to be so much more than just a pretty face. Beginning the night with electric rockabilly banger Only Angels the crowd was enraptured from the get-go, singing along with every shake, rattle and hum of his songs.
Within a setlist comprised mostly of songs off his debut album, Styles also scattered in there a smattering of covers, unreleased gems and old favourites – including What Makes You Beautiful, the debut song of ex-group One Direction, prompting a deafening response from the crowd. Bringing back another oldie, the arena came alive at the dulcet tones of Fly, lit up by phone lights and the sound of thousands of fans singing along to every word. Ending his set with three encores, Styles left to the tune of raucous applause; his energy lingering, even when he was long gone.
