EXO-CBX – Blooming Days | Album Review

Blooming Days, the second mini album from EXO‘s sub-unit CBX is precisely as you would expect from such an accomplished group. Poised, precise and eclectic, the album is concise in its theme, each track lending itself to a summery vibe, while retaining the dynamic execution that makes EXO such a formidable faction. Though the album is short, consisting of only eight tracks, if you include the instrumental, EXO-CBX manages to deliver a variety of modern sounds, all the while infused with their own retro twist. Intrinsically different from their previous works, such as ‘Hey Mama‘, which had its foundations within more traditional pop-rock, this legendary sub-unit manages to master whichever musical direction they choose to pursue. While the repetitive notions of title track Blooming Day admittedly begin to feel bland after a while, the album is one that grows on you, and with every listen you feel as though you are discovering something new.
